Welcome to Her World by Sumera, a space dedicated to understanding the complex realities shaping the lives of women, migrants, LGBTQI+ communities and other marginalized groups across the globe. I am Sumera Yasin, a sociologist, gender studies scholar, researcher, and human rights advocate with over a decade of experience working on issues of discrimination, gender-based violence, forced migration, and social inequalities.

My professional journey—from academic teaching to field research, from humanitarian programs to refugee mental-health studies—has taken me across Pakistan, the UK, and Sweden. I have worked as a research assistant at the Swedish Red Cross University, a lecturer in Gender Studies, Sociology, and International Politics, a program officer with UNDP and WFP, and a human rights practitioner with organizations combating acid violence, gender-based injustices, and refugee marginalization.
